Twin, North Lake
|Clarity: 4m||Depth: 60 ft||Size: 2788 Acres||Type: Drainage||Access: Public|
North Twin Lake is located about 13 miles north and east of Eagle River, WI. It is mostly in the Town of Phelps although a lot of the lake is in the Town of Conover. North Twin Lake offers 2788 acres and has a max depth of 60’. It has 10 miles of shoreline and almost 70% of the lake is deeper than 20’ deep. The water clarity is excellent with 3-4 m clarity according to UW Madison. It is connected to South Twin Lake which offers another 628 acres. The two lakes together offer 3416 acres of water and over 12 miles of shoreline.
North Twin offers excellent fishing. It is known for muskies and several 50”+ fish have been boated on the lake. Walleye fishing is very good too. Try the shallows to the east of Gangster Island as the water warms there first in the spring.
There are 3 boat landings on both lakes. One is in Phelps, one is on the west shore and there is another landing just down Twin Lake Road on South Twin. There is one popular bar on the north shore of the lake (Dublin’s). Northern Exposure is close to the lake but not on the lake.
Real estate on the lake is active. Most of the lake has been developed. The north shore tends to offer some elevation which is great for views but not so great if you wish to avoid steps. The west shore is a bit more level. The south shore varies in spots. Some is highly elevated and some is not. It is a tremendous lake for fishing and offers some of the best value if you are looking for “big water”.
